About LaskuMaker
LaskuMaker is a free online invoice generator designed specifically for creating Finnish invoices. The service is operated by H-Chuks, a registered Finnish business based in Oulu.
Why it exists
Creating an invoice in Finland involves several requirements that can be easy to overlook, especially if you are self-employed, running a small business, or new to the Finnish invoicing system.
For example, a Finnish reference number cannot simply be chosen at random. It must be calculated correctly using a check digit. Finnish invoices may also include a bank barcode that follows a specific national format, while VAT rates and other invoicing requirements can change over time.
Many international invoicing tools are designed for multiple countries and may not handle Finnish-specific requirements particularly well. Finnish invoicing services are usually better suited to the local system, but some place restrictions on their free versions, require registration, or add watermarks.
Language can create another challenge. If you have recently moved to Finland, understanding invoicing requirements can be difficult when much of the available information is written primarily in Finnish.
LaskuMaker was created to make the process simpler. It focuses on Finnish invoicing requirements, provides guidance in English, and allows you to create an invoice without opening an account.
How it works
LaskuMaker is designed with privacy in mind. Invoice creation takes place directly in your browser. Your invoice PDF is generated on your own device, and the business information you enter is stored locally in your browser. Your invoice information is not sent to our servers.
This is particularly important because invoices can contain sensitive business and payment information, including bank account details. We believe you should be able to create an invoice without having to send that information to an unnecessary third party.
How it stays free
The core LaskuMaker invoice generator is free to use, and we intend to keep it that way. In the future, we may introduce optional paid features for services that have ongoing operating costs. These could include synchronising invoice history across devices or sending electronic invoices through a Finnish e-invoicing provider.
These services would be optional additions. The invoice-generation features that are currently available for free will remain available without requiring a paid subscription.
